Après-ski and evening activities in Ischgl and Kappl

The ski day is over – what now?

It's 4 pm, the lifts have closed, the last run is done. The skis are in the boot room. So what's next?

In Ischgl and Kappl there are different ways to spend the evening – depending on whether you're looking for a party, some relaxation, or quality family time.

Après-ski in Ischgl

Ischgl is famous for its après-ski culture. The slope-side bars open when the lifts close – and the buzz often carries on well into the night. If you're in the mood to celebrate, this is the place:

  • Kuhstall – One of the best-known après-ski spots
  • Trofana Alm – Classic, big, loud
  • Pacha – For those who want club vibes after a day on the mountain

Honest note: Ischgl is great for après-ski, but it comes at a price. Drink prices at après-ski level can add up fast. And if you're travelling with children or as a family, these venues won't be much fun.

Evening options in Kappl – the alternative

Kappl is not an après-ski destination – and that is precisely its advantage. If you want a quieter evening, you'll find it much more suited to that:

A relaxed dinner

The best thing after a long day on the slopes: eating in peace. Kappl has a handful of good restaurants that deliver exactly that – without the crowds and without inflated après-ski prices.

Spa and wellness

Many hotels in the area offer wellness facilities – perfect for tired muscles after an intense day on the mountain.

Evening walks

In winter the Paznaun Valley is quiet and beautiful in the evenings. A short stroll through Kappl – with a stunning night sky above – is an underrated option.

Family evening

For families with children, the evening is often the most relaxed part of the day. Kids playing, parents eating – without the stress of a packed après-ski bar.

Eating after skiing: what matters

After 5-6 hours on the slopes you're genuinely hungry. Here's what a good dinner needs to deliver:

  1. Hearty – No tapas-sized portions. Real food in real quantities.
  2. Quick – You don't want to wait forever.
  3. Varied – Not schnitzel every single night. Pizza, pasta, burgers, steak – a broad menu is worth its weight in gold.
  4. Comfortable – Not stressful. Somewhere you can linger a little longer if you want.

Luis Diner as your evening choice

Luis Diner in Kappl is built exactly for this situation. The menu is wide enough that even after a full week you won't get bored. The atmosphere is relaxed without being stuffy.

Particularly well-suited for:

  • Families – Kids' area, broad menu, laid-back atmosphere
  • Groups – Plenty of space, lots of options, no snobbery
  • Couples – Cosy, not too loud, great food

For a complete après-ski evening we recommend: a quick wind-down in Ischgl, then hop on the bus or drive over to Kappl and enjoy a proper dinner at Luis Diner. The best of both worlds.
